This past weekend our family went to Galveston to enjoy the beach. This trip was my first time staying in Galveston for an extended time, in many years. I must say, if you are in the Houston area, it’s a great family getaway.

The first day we went to Moody Gardens. We saw Shark 4D which was a really neat virtual experience. Bubbles, water, blowing air, and shaking seats made the short 20 minute video very entertaining. We also saw Dinos Alive – animatronic dinosaurs, that was fun for the kids.

We stayed at Pirates Beach. I was very impressed by the clear water and clean sand. The children had a lot of fun making sand castles and playing in the water.

I had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and make a mini photo op session of the babies.

Watching seagulls was very entertaining for these little ones.

During the vacation, I couldn’t resist but to decorate the table for dinner. I incorporated a coastal theme with seashells and light blue hues. To see the complete detailed tablescape, head over to my Coastal Blue Tablescape

On the last evening we decided to go the Strand for dinner. I loved the old style architecture – it reminded me of a small New Orleans with lots of creole architecture and many historical buildings. The Strand was very lively with live music and lots of food & drink options. For dessert we went to the famous, La King Confectionery. It was a hit with the kids! Actually, a hit with everyone, doesn’t matter you age, you feel like a kid in a candy store! I can’t even tell you how many options they have for chocolate covered this and chocolate covered that. I even picked up dark chocolate-covered gummy bears! They were surprisingly delicious! The have a live demonstration of making laffy taffy that was fun to view.

Overall we had a great weekend trip! I would highly recommend treating yourself to a beach vacay in Galveston when you get an opportunity. Linking my summer go-to, mom-approved swimwear below!

Until next time,
